Football changes
Wow! I can’t believe we are already talking about football, but here we are. The league is at a real crossroads with all the changes, but just like baseball, I think we will only pull through stonger. I’m just going to go ahead and break down all the changes one by one so we get them all out there.
- It looks like we have lost John Bob. He won’t be able to be online or at the draft and has not responded to an email to see if he can change this, so we are going to have to move on without him. This is a huge loss for the Drunks, but we’ve had to make moves like this in the past with Vince Ferguson, Tom Mazeway, and some guy named Frank that Tommy knew. John Bob’s Jerky Treats were the 2000 Big Ten Drunk football champions and will be missed.
- Chris Mersino will be taking over the Jerky Treats. Chris is a long time baseball owner and a valued member of the Drunks. He will decide his keepers ASAP from John Bob’s team.
- We will have 6 bench spots and 1 IR spot this year as opposed to 8 bench spots.
- We will be keeping a Rookie/Second Year player along with our 3 standard keepers THIS YEAR. The point of this is to provide some incentive to take a chance on a young guy. All teams but Rod should benefit immediately from this. Rod is the only team without a rookie/2nd player, so as soon as we all post our rook/2nd keeper on fanball.com by Friday, August 6, Rod will be able to pick from the leftovers and then we will move on from there.
- This is not a change, but the draft is Saturday, August 21, 1pm EDT at Nettleman’s Sports Paradise. If you cannot attend, you should be online in the Fanball.com draft room (more details on that as we get closer to the draft).
There we go. In summary, big loss of John Bob, welcome to football Chris, and get your rook/second year player submitted on the website. The draft will now be 10 rounds instead of 12, so things should move a little quicker on draft day.
